Rep. John Lewis made quite a fuss when he announced that he’s not planning to attend the opening of a civil rights museum in Mississippi because he doesn’t wan’t to be at the same place as President Donald Trump.
It’s no secret that he isn’t exactly Trump’s biggest fan. He even referred to him as an ‘illegitimate president’ once.
However, David Clarke, a former Sheriff ripped his response and silenced Eboni Williams, the liberal host from Fox News after he tried to speak about what Lewis did.
From Biz Pac Review we find out that Clarke told Fox News that “No one cares what John Lewis is doing,” adding that: “He’s been reduced to being a caricature in that he has to pull a political stunt like this. He can’t even honor a civil rights museum opening!”
He dismissed Lewis’ status as a civil rights icon, by posing the question “John who?”
Unfortunately, this sarcastic remark was not exactly well received by Eboni Williams, who’s also a former Democratic Strategist and also not quite a “Trump-lover”.
Williams replied back :“John Lewis — he was bloodied on the Selma bridge when he was trying to protest voting rights and organizing sit-ins,”
On that Clarke said that he admired Lewis’ deeds, back in 1965 when he endured a beating by Democratic segregationists while marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, but that since then he hasn’t really done anything else to help black Americans.
Clarke pointed out the record poverty and crime rates in the black community under the Democrats’ leadership and said that “John Lewis has become one of the most irrelevant members of Congress,”.
He added that the boycott was just a clever way for him to turn the attention away from his dismal record. Clark stated : “He has to pull a political stunt like this to get news coverage, that’s how bad this is!
The Author Mason Weaver, who was a former Black Panther, just recently pointed out how “He’s gotten rich as black America has gotten poorer.”
He scolded Lewis for joining the Democrats after the incident back in 1965. According to him, the Democratic party uses identity politics to ensure the support of the black community, but never really does anything to improve it’s conditions.
Weaver says:“Lewis is a civil rights turncoat who collaborated with the Democratic Party to oppress black America,” adding “After they beat him behind on that bridge, he got up and joined them. He joined the oppressors and became a stooge for them!”
Lewis needs to get over himself.
Like it or not, Trump IS our President and he should get the respect he deserves as his title requires.
